New Federal Tax-Credit Scholarship Program Set to Launch in 2027

South Dakota Partners in Education is committed to expanding educational opportunity and supporting academic success for all K-12 students across South Dakota. Our focus is on strengthening access to high-quality learning options for students and families statewide.

It is important to note that the newly announced Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program is entirely separate and distinct from the South Dakota State Insurance Premium Tax-Credit Program, which was established in 2016 and continues to operate solely under South Dakota law in partnership with the South Dakota Division of Insurance. The state program remains unchanged and continues to provide a 100% state premium-tax credit for participating insurance companies.

At this stage, many details of the new Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program are still developing. Program guidelines and regulations will be established by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and those federal rules will ultimately determine the program’s specific requirements and operational procedures.
